Robert Adams: Turning Back (wyd. niemieckie)"Turning Back: A Photographic Journal of Re-Exploration" is published to coincide with the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, which reported finding a vast forest of ancient evergreens in the American Northwest. In "Turning Back", Robert Adams looks again at the region's trees, discovering evidence, both of America's failure and of a continuing promise. Starting from views of the Pacific beach at the estuary of the Colombia River and moving to the Great Northwest, Adams documents the effects of the logging industry, and the traces it has left on the landscape. From coastal landscapes populated with tourists to timber clear-cutting and small family farms in eastern Oregon, Adams reflects on what was lost, what is retained, and what is valued both regionally and as a people with a common history. This title has been published on the occasion of the exhibition at Haus der Kunst, Munich and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, in 2005 - 2006.
