Equally reviled and revered, the architectural work of Charles Edouard Jeanneret (better known as Le Corbusier) ranged from the urban planning of the La Ville Radieuse project and the mass housing blocks of the Unite d'Habitation in Marseilles to such delicate masterpieces as the chapel of Notre Dame Du Haut in Ronchamp, and is seen here in more than 50 photographs. Along with Charlotte Perriand, he also designed a highly influential collection of furniture piecesthe leather and tubular steel armchairs and chaise lounge they created are still in production today. Each volume in this series of slim monographs uses vivid full- and double-page photographs, undiluted with captions, to reveal a particular genius of design, art, or fashion. A foreword or preface by an author close to the subject sets the importance of the work seen, and the illustrations are captioned in a thumbnail appendix.
