This volume spotlights the genre of nude photography, presenting for the first time 220 original pictures on the theme from the photography collection of the Munich City Museum, spanning the years from 1845 to 2005.

For more than 30 years, the photographer Roger Ballen has been shooting portraits of the impoverished white population of rural South Africa, of day labourers, security guards and workers who eek out a wretched existence in the so-called Platteland.
