“Village of the Nubas” stanowi dokumentację afrykańskiej podróży, jaką znany fotograf George Rodger (jeden z założycieli słynnej agencji Magnum) odbył na przełomie lat 40. i 50. ubiegłego wieku. Uzyskawszy zgodę rządu sudańskiego na podróż w głąb historycznej krainy Kordofanu, podjął się próby udokumentowania rytuałów i codziennego życia niezbadanego dotąd ludu Nuba. 
Wyniki swej wyjątkowej podróży, stanowiące połączenie krytycznych badań socjologicznych z równie znamienitymi zdjęciami, po dziś dzień uznawane są jako mistrzostwo zarówno w dziedzinie fotografii, jak i nauk humanistycznych.
